Reusing Old Gold To Make New Jewellery

For most of 2020 Victorians have been victim to lockdowns and tight restrictions. This period of isolation has allowed many of our clients to finish projects around their homes and do a thorough spring clean. After receiving multiple emails regarding old unused items of jewellery that had been found in jewellery boxes we decided to put a success story of turning your old jewellery from trash to treasure!
As the gold price continues to surge and trade at historical highs, we have found from experience the most innovative method to maximise the benefits to our clients with a substantial amount of ‘scrap’ jewellery is to ‘reuse’ it, allowing us to supply you with a new item of jewellery – specifically a bangle, chain necklace or bracelet.
For example, a client presents 30 grams of 9 carat scrap gold jewellery. After selecting a bangle, chain or bracelet design, the item is manufactured for a making cost of around $750. This new jewellery item would have a retail valuation (for insurance replacement purposes) of over $3,500.

One of a series of bangles produced re-using ‘family gold’ to create a very special family heirloom. The new bangle was then set with a variety of birthstones to honour the memory of family members. A beautiful piece that will provide lasting memories for this generation and the next.
If you have not done so yet, it might be an opportune time to spend a few minutes looking through your jewellery box to see if you could benefit in a similar way.
